"Christmas around Europe"

Verkefnið var unnið á haustönn 2012. Nemendur bjuggu til jólakort sem þeir sendu til hinna þátttökulandanna með venjulegum pósti. Þeir skiptust einnig á upplýsingum um jólasiði og venjur með því að búa til kynningar, veggspjöld sem sett eru á TwinSpace eða vefsíðu. Teknir voru upp jólasöngvar á ensku og á móðurmálinu sem aðgengilegir eru á TwinSpace vefnum.

Samskipti fóru fram á ensku með því að nota spjall, tölvupóst, glærukynningar, myndbönd og teikningar.

Nemendur voru á aldrinum 6 til 12 ára og þeir kynntu sig á TwinSpace. Markmiðið með verkefninu var að kynna nemendum jólamenningu og siði Evrópulanda. Þriðji bekkur tók þátt í þessu verkefni með kennurum sínum Rögnu og Margréti.

Verkefnið fékk gæðamerki Evrópusambandsins 2013.

Jólakortin voru sett upp á vegg til sýnis.

Pupils will design and make their own Christmas cards and exchange them with all the project partners through traditional post. Children will also share their national Christmas traditions and customs ((PP presentation, hand-made posters scanned and published on TwinSpace, webside/blog etc.). Pupils will also video recorded singing carols (in English and in their mother tongue).

Aims:
To familiarize children with Christmas traditions in different European countries. To exchange Christmas cards and to know Christmas carols from other European countries. Work process:
1. Pupils introduce themselves on TwinSpace (we can publish some photos of our groups/school etc.) just to get to know each other. 

2. Each country prepares something about Christmas traditions in their country (PP presentation, hand-made posters scanned and published on TwinSpace, webside/blog etc.) 

3. Each country makes (=handmade) Christmas cards for each of the country and send them by traditional post. 

4. Video recording of children singing a Christmas carol in English and in their mother tongue.

Expected results:
Each school will receive a collection of Christmas greetings from across Europe and make a school display of the received cards. Children will learn about Christmas traditions and customs around Europe including listening of carols in different languages.
